 Instructions for presenting free/original work 

The 7th Latin-American Colposcopy and Pathology of the Lower Genital Tract Congress’s National and International Scientific Committee would like to invite those interested in presenting original/free work to do so during the congress as an oral presentation, poster or video.

* Registration procedure

1. Research work in the different specialisation areas involved in providing sexual and reproductive health care may be presented, but it must be clearly identified whether such work falls within the area of cervical pathology and colposcopy.


2. If work has been presented at other national or international congresses then this must be clearly stated on the registration form (see below).


3. A summary of the work must be sent before 6: pm on the 17th September 2010 to comply with the registration requirements by e-mail to the following address _____________________, specifying the type of presentation being proposed. In the case of being a video presentation, this must be sent together with the summary.


4. The summary must comply with the specified rules for filling in the form.


5. No work sent after the stipulated date and time for registration will be accepted.

* Rules for filling in the registration format for the summary

1. Language to be used: English and Spanish


2. Font type: Arial.


3. Letter size: 11.


4. The content of the summary must not exceed 500 words, including title, authors and institution and key words (it is thus recommended using the word count on the Microsoft Word toolbar), but without Tables, Figures or special characters.


5. The summary must be written in line with the following format:

Title: The title must be given in bold. It must be concrete, complete and clearly indicate the work’s content. It must not contain abbreviations.


Author(s): Each author’s surname and initials must be given, maximum 6 authors. The most convenient way of contacting the main author must be included (e-mail, telephone).


Institution: The name of the institution, city, county or state and country must be included.


Introduction: The work’s objectives must be preferentially outlined.


Materials and Methods: The study’s design, study population, materials, procedures and statistical methods used must all be clearly described.


Results: The study’s most relevant findings must be given.

 

Conclusions: These must be directly related to the stated objectives.


Key words: These must include up to three words describing the main points of the summary and must be indexable.

 

* Identifying work

 

Label the e-file being sent with the main author’s surname accompanied by the initial letter of her/his Christian name, the abbreviation with the type of presentation (see description sheet) and the code number for the work being sent. For example: The main author (Joan Smith) sending work for an obstetric oral presentation and two for obstetric posters will identify the files being sent in the following way:

* Selection procedure

1. The summaries will be evaluated by the congress’s scientific committee to decide whether they merit being accepted.


2. The scientific committee will forward a list of work accepted by it to the organising committee and state in which category it has been accepted.


3. The organising committee will notify the main author of the committee’s decision 13th September 2010.


4. If not already enrolled in the congress, then the authors must enrol in it during the week following being notified of their acceptance.

 

* Presentation procedure

1. Oral presentation: Maximum 10 slides in Microsoft Power Point; 4 minutes will be made available for the presentation and 1 minute extra for answering questions.

2. Posters: Poster size 70cms x 100cms, vertical orientation. The author must be present where the poster is to be displayed on the assigned date and at the assigned time.

3. Videos: Maximum duration 5 minutes, in reproducible format in Windows Media Player. Title, authors and institution must be included at the beginning.

Work will be evaluated in line with the following aspects:

 

1. Criteria regarding methodological quality; 

2. Scientific content;

3. Ethical aspects; and

4. Relevance for the Latin-American Federation for Colposcopy and Pathology of the LGT (Federacion Latinoamericana de Colposcopia y Patologia del TGI - FLPTGIC).

 

Work winning the Original Work section will be published on-line on the Congress web page.
